Where the night sky comes to life.

A truly dark sky is one of the rarest things left — most people have never seen the Milky Way arc overhead or watched Saturn's rings snap into focus. We run these tours to give people that first moment of awe, and to keep these skies protected for everyone who comes after us.

Bryce Canyon Stargazing

Real nights under real skies

Every photo is from an actual tour — guests tracing a laser across the constellations, telescopes trained on Saturn, and the Milky Way arcing over the darkest skies left in the country.

"Caroline did an amazing job explaining the science behind the different types of celestial objects we saw that night and mixed in many stories from Greek mythology that gave the constellations their name and 'why's."

Stargazing near Bryce Canyon — your questions answered

Is Bryce Canyon a good place for stargazing?+

It's one of the best in North America. Bryce Canyon is a certified International Dark Sky Park, sitting above 8,000 feet in dry desert air far from city light. On a clear, moonless night you can see thousands of stars and the Milky Way with the naked eye — far more than almost anywhere in the country.

What time should I go stargazing near Bryce Canyon?+

Our Classic tours start after dark — around 7:30 PM in winter, 9:00–9:30 PM in spring through fall. For the very darkest skies, the Late Night tour begins at midnight year-round, once the moon has set and the crowds are gone.

Do I need to bring my own telescope?+

No. We provide high-powered telescopes and an expert astronomer guide on every tour. Just bring yourself — and warm layers. If you're joining the astrophotography course, bring your own camera or smartphone.

How cold does it get, and what should I wear?+

Bryce Canyon sits at high elevation, so nights are cold year-round — often well below freezing in winter and chilly even in summer. Dress in heavy winter layers, hats, and gloves. We provide blankets and hot drinks, but warm clothing makes all the difference.

Do the tours run year-round?+

Yes. We operate every night, year-round, weather permitting. The Late Night tour in particular runs nightly through all seasons. Tours may be rescheduled if clouds fully block the sky.

Are the stargazing tours family-friendly?+

Absolutely. The Classic tour welcomes all ages — children 5–15 are discounted and kids 4 and under are free. Our guides make the science engaging for both kids and adults.
