Discover the wonders of the cosmos
Bryce Canyon Stargazing was born from a lifelong love affair with the night sky. Our founder Richard grew up spending summers at Big Bear Lake, where his father — an electrical engineer at Caltech's Solar Astronomy department in Pasadena — surrounded him with professors, telescopes, and cosmic wonder.
Years later, as an owner-partner at American Ring Travel, Richard noticed a gap no one was filling: international travelers touring the Southwest by bus had no way to experience stargazing after dark. The solution became this company — guided night-sky experiences, with shuttle service from nearby lodges, for visitors who crossed the world to see the American Southwest and deserved to see its night sky too.
Today we bring the cosmos to everyone — families, couples, photographers, science lovers, and travelers from every continent — under some of the most breathtaking dark skies on the planet.
Where the night sky comes to life.

The Location
Why southern Utah is the dark sky capital of the world
International Dark Sky Park
Bryce Canyon National Park earned its certification in August 2019 — one of the strictest dark-sky standards in the world.
Highest concentration on Earth
Southern Utah has more certified dark sky locations than anywhere else on the planet. The parks here protect what's above, not just what's below.
High elevation, dry air
At over 8,000 feet with low humidity, the atmosphere gets out of the way. Stars are sharper and more numerous than almost anywhere at sea level.
Hours from city lights
The nearest major light dome is far over the horizon. On a clear night the Milky Way is plainly visible to the naked eye — a sight most people never see in their lifetime.
The Founders
Richard & Jason

My passion for astronomy and the night sky is a family legacy. My father worked as an electrical engineer for Caltech's Solar Astronomy department in Pasadena, and my childhood summers were spent at the university's lodge at Big Bear Lake. Surrounded by visiting professors from around the world and a fleet of large Dobsonian telescopes, I learned early on that the stars are a universal language.
Decades later, as an owner-partner at American Ring Travel Inc., I recognized a major gap in the industry. Thousands of international bus travelers were overnighting in Bryce Canyon — home to the world's finest dark skies — but they were stranded at their hotels. Under DOT rules, bus driver hours expire before the stars come out, leaving tour groups with no way to reach stargazing venues after dark.
Bryce Canyon Stargazing was a solution to that problem. By providing dedicated shuttle transfers from the Bryce View Lodge, we solved the logistics of the parked bus. Today, Richard and Jason ensure that global travelers don't just stay near the canyon — they actually experience its celestial wonder.
We provide the transport, the technology, and the expertise to bring the universe within reach, one shuttle at a time.
Our Team
Astronomers and storytellers
Our guides are working astronomers, science educators, and writers — the same people behind the articles on our blog. From solar physics to constellation mythology, every guide brings their own corner of the cosmos to the tour.
Every guide on our team shares one goal: to make you look up — and never stop.
